Tom Newell — Founder & Director

Tom is a geoscientist with 20 years of upstream oil & gas exploration experience, predominantly in Sub-Saharan Africa, holding senior and leadership roles spanning Exploration Geophysics, Exploration and Asset Management, including Group Management Board positions. He brings significant licence and contract negotiation experience and a track record of building, pragmatic high-trust teams and joint-venture relationships. More recently, Tom held senior startup leadership roles in the UK natural capital sector, including General Manager and Interim CEO.

Iain Gardner - Consulting Chief of Staff

Iain has held senior operational roles with the United Nations and analytical roles with Imperial College London, and holds an Imperial College MBA. He specialises in evidence-based, data-driven investment programmes. Since 2004 he has designed and delivered initiatives across Africa and South Asia focused on enabling private-sector growth in frontier and emerging markets. A committed advocate of the private sector’s role in positive social impact, Iain’s work centres on public-private investment that advances the triple bottom line; at GMG he supports execution cadence, stakeholder engagement and government interface coordination.

Technical Governance

GMG is recruiting specialist geothermal technical leadership and specialists to work with, and have oversight of sector-leading, DFI recognised consultancies to deliver commercially focussed decision-grade technical reporting and recommendations.
